Soul Catcher - student film Posted: February 26, 2007
Director: Jerome Sable
Production Company: FDLT Productions
Synopsis Renegade Native American Katsuk has vowed revenge against the Whites by kidnapping young David Marshall, the son of a Senator, and is threatening to kill him as a sacrifice. When his fellow tribespeople try to talk him out of it, Katsuk scares them by showing his "shaman" powers.
1) KATSUK / Lead / Male / Native American / 30-45 People know Katsuk as Charles Hobuhet. He left the reservation and completed his degree at a "White" university and was fully integrated into "Hoquat" Society.
Nobody who knew him suspected he could ever harm a fly, let alone kidnap a Senator's son. Any ethnicity that can pass for Native American.
2) TSKANAY / Lead / Female / Native American / 25-35 Tskanay (real name Mary Kletnik) knew Katsuk as Charlie and doesn't understand who he's become. Assertive, defiant, feminine, she was originally supposed to marry him in an arranged marriage. Any ethnicity that can pass for Native American.
3) ISH / Lead / Male / Native American / 50-70 Ish is the father figure of the reservation. He has been on the governing council for the last 20 years and people respect his authority because he is wise and forgiving at the same time. Still, certain acts are unacceptable...
Project Notes: This is a directed scene for Jeremy Kagan's 532 class at USC.
The scene is adapted from "Soul Catcher" by Frank Herbert (author of "Dune").
We are casting A.S.A.P. Actors who are interested should send a headshot and resume to me at jerome@sableandbatalion.com and leave their phone number for me to call them.
